New York City: The Late Mathias Pascal (1926) Jan. 15

PostWed Jan 11, 2017 4:47 pm

THE LATE MATHIAS PASCAL (1926, Marcel L'Herbier) screens Sunday, January 15 at New York's Film Forum with live piano accompaniment by Steve Sterner.

"Fleeing personal tragedy – and the mother-in-law from hell – Russian acting legend Ivan Mousjoukine unexpectedly wins a fortune at Monte Carlo, then learns he is presumed dead. A new life? Design tour de force for L’Herbier, who personally talked Pirandello into letting him film the novel. Debut of a very young Michel Simon."
