Anchorage Symphony Orchestra to provide live music for classic Chaplin film

Author: Mike Dunham Updated: 23 hours ago Published 23 hours ago

Still from “The Kid,” a film written, produced, directed by Charlie Chaplin, who also starred. The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will supply the music for the silent film at a showing this weekend.

Silent double-bill

The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will supply the movie music for Charlie Chaplin live at the screening of two silent picture classics. Chaplin's first full-length feature, "The Kid," has kept audiences laughing — and occasionally sniffling — for most of 100 years. The short that accompanies the main feature, "The Idle Class," is pure over-the-top comedy. Enjoy cinema the way it was meant to be as the ASO presents Silent Movie Night, 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in Atwood Concert Hall. Tickets are available at centertix.net.
