D.W. Griffith film on Lincoln to be shown Aug. 8
By Andrea Uhde • [email protected] • July 28, 2008

A film by one of Oldham County’s most famous natives about another Kentuckian, Abraham Lincoln, will be shown under the stars at the county’s History Center on Aug. 8.

D.W. Griffith, born near Curry’s Fork in 1875, made the movie, “Abraham Lincoln,” in 1930. It traces Lincoln from his birth near Hodgenville through the presidency and the Civil War.

The film lasts 97 minutes and will start at 9 p.m. People are welcome to bring lawn chairs and snacks.

The movie is part of the history center’s summer series celebrating the Lincoln Bicentennial. It is free and open to the public.

The history center is at 106 N. Second Ave. in La Grange.

Reporter Andrea Uhde can be reached at (502) 582-4663.
