Where to sell Buster Keaton film negative...

PostThu Mar 06, 2014 7:53 am

Hello,

We have recently acquired some 16mm films from Bob Monkhouse's collection.
Most of them will be sold on, but we just wanted to make sure they went to good hands, as some of them are negatives.
Could anyone here tell us where is the best place to sell negatives?

Also, if anyone is interested, we have a couple of films up initially on ebay, to see if there is interest. They can be viewed here:-

CHARLIE CHAPLIN - Between Showers
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage16-mm- ... 338b91b215

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF TARZAN - episode 4
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-PATHE ... 338b91afb8

.... we can also post up the entire list of what we have if people would like to know?

There is some Edward Ludwig films, some mad movies clips from Bob Monkhouse, a Buster Keaton negative (The Boat)...Buster Keaton's "The High Sign".... Mabel Normand, Harold Lloyd, Fatty Arbuckle, Our Gang and some we can't identify or can barely find any reference to... like Fuss and Folly .... and Wild and Woozy (listed on another forum as very rare/lost?)....There is also sadly some with missing reels, like The Heart of Wetona.....and The Strong Man - Capra (negative).

Thanks!
Sam

The two prints that you have listed do not look like negatives to me. Are you saying that there are other prints that are negatives?

I wonder why would anyone want a dupe negative of a commonly available Keaton comedy? To make 16mm prints nowadays is very expensive and there is limited market for film, since many surviving film collectors have converted to the much more affordable digital projection. From a look at the titles above, many are recognizable as
available on DVD as well as on TV channels.

16mm prints of any origins is not my cup of tea. Just 35mm only. Please list it here if any of that particular films is available in 35mm ? Unknown Fragments is okay, no problemo. :)
I just want to and have to show and tell everybody absolutely NOTHING but only the truth.

No 35mm as far as I know.... sorry!

re: rarity,
Wild and Woozy is mentioned here as a lost/rare film
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... Dex8YEiFeU

the final list has others which I can't identify...
so they are not all completely boring! though of course, something like The Boat is easily found elsewhere no doubt. :)

"Fuss and Folly" also seems rare.

Listed as an Earl/Earle Rodney film on the BFI. But not in his credits on IMDB, or anywhere else to be found online as far as I can see....
