New and vigorous impulses seem to me to be at work in it,[the cinema] and doubtless before long it will drop all slavish copying of the stage and strike out along fresh paths. -- Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree
I just learned that WBAI host Max Schmid's 7p -11p GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO tonight (October 30th) will include something from our recently departed Cool Ghoul, a HARRY LIME ghost story from Orson Welles, Halloween memories from Jean Shepherd, as well as my own FRANKENSTEIN (at 8pm.)
I remember Halloween evening performances by Zacherle over the New York Oldies radio station, WCBS-FM, probably in the 1980s. He was certainly entertaining. RIP
