Elephant Man ought to be right up there but I think Hurt's place in film history is assured with Alien.

He was fantastic as Rich in his early film career in the Oscar winner "A Man for All Seasons". He was also quite memorable as Caligula in the series "I, Claudius". In England he'll probably also be remembered as the oldest Dr. Who, having done the umpteenth iteration only recently. Kids will remember him as the wand maker in several Harry Potter films.

For the movies he gave performances in in the 2020s, I should imagine.

That reminds me of W. C. Fields' epitaph:
"I'd rather be in Philadelphia"
a place for which he didn't especially have any fondness...

No. Perry was gay, didn't you know that?

Finally watched the Joan Crawford/Jack Palance/Gloria Grahame noir Sudden Fear, the new Cohen restoration recorded off TCM, and there was Mike "Touch" Connors in one of his early roles. A nice, timely surprise.
