MOMA Unseen Universal Shorts Programs!

PostWed Apr 26, 2017 6:08 am

Just a reminder that I will be presenting programs of long unseen (over 80 years) Universal comedy and musical shorts at the Museum of Modern Art on May 6, 7, 10 and 15. These shorts were never re-released not issued to the home market (except one briefly in 1930) and are a rare chance to enjoy films unseen in over eight decades.

As if this embarrassment of riches is not enough, at 7:30PM on May 6th following my program, the great Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks will be provide live original accompaniment to the 1927 Lois Weber silent feature SENSATION SEEKERS. Links to the MOMA website for all of these programs follows in the comments section below. Hope you can make it. I will be introducing each program of shorts. MANY thanks to Dave Kehr of MOMA and Mike Feinberg of Universal for making this a reality

Isn't that just the way, to edit out the best parts of Mother Riley Meets the Vampire and use it for a separate short!

I was at the Saturday program, and by happenstance was seated in front of Ron Hutchinson. His laughter throughout the program added to the memorable time. All the six shorts were a joy to discover.
