1927 Paramount Photographs

PostThu Dec 17, 2015 6:39 pm

Hello All:

Happy Holidays!
Here's a batch of photos, all Paramount Studios, mostly 1927 but a few from 1930-31. It was easy to look up the film titles because they all have a nice production number, but I am not too sure of the actors. any guesses???
Thanks!

1. SERVICE FOR LADIES (1927)
I would guess that female in this photo is Kathryn Carver but I am not certain; can't see the man very well.
Image

2. TOO MANY CROOKS (1927)
The cast in this film included Lloyd Hughes, George Bancroft and Mildred Davis (woman on the far right??)
Image

3. WORLD AT HER FEET (1927)
Is this Florence Vidor (King's wife until 1924) and is the guy Arnold Kent?
Image

4. LORD AND LADY ALGY (1919)
Tom Moore, Leslie Stuart, Frank Leigh (probably not in that order), and the woman must be Naomi Childers??
Image

5. LAST WALTZ (1927 - german)
Last Waltz was a German film, which was apparently imported to the US via Paramount. the cast included Liane Haid, Willy Fritsch, and Suzy Vernon; anyone know about this film??

6. LAST WALTZ (1927 - german)
Another from Last Waltz, a German film, which was apparently imported to the US via Paramount. the cast included Liane Haid, Willy Fritsch, and Suzy Vernon; anyone know about this film??

6. RUBBER HEELS (1927)
Film cast included Ed Wynn and Thelma Todd, but I don't think they are pictured here. I am guessing Chester Conklin and Ruth Donnelly????
Image

7. GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES (1928)
silent version of Marilyn Monroe film, and Carol Channing Broadway show!
Cast included Ruth Taylor, Alice White, Ford Sterling and Holmes Herbert. my guess: Alice White, Ford Sterling and Holmes Herbert??
Image

8. SHANGHAI BOUND (1928)
woman must be Mary Brian, others Richard Dix (far right?), Charles Byer, George Irving, Tom Maguire??
Image

Marian Nixon (in front?) with Eddie Dowling, Frankie Darro, Sam Hardy, Lloyd INgraham??
Image

It is Thelma Todd in #6 (RUBBER HEELS) and Mischa Auer in the middle of #13. So much for the easy ones.

1) The man is Adolphe Menjou.

2) I believe the woman at right is Betty Francisco. The man at far right is Lloyd Hughes, and in center is Gayne Whitman.

3) The woman is Florence Vidor, not positive about the man.

6) That's Thelma Todd, but not Chester Conklin.

7) Ruth Taylor (center) and Ford Sterling (right). L-R: Arthur Hoyt, George Irving, Mary Brian, unknown, Richard Dix.

8) L-R: Arthur Hoyt, George Irving, Mary Brian, unknown, Richard Dix.

9) Eddie Dowling is 4th from left, don't recognize anyone else. Marian Nixon isn't in the photo.

10) At right, Regis Toomey and Jean Arthur.

11) William Stage Boyd at right.

12) Richard Tucker and Natalie Moorhead.

13) L-R: Paul Lucas, Michael Auer, Judith Wood.

These are just off the top of my head. I'm sure some of the eagle-eyed Nitrateville members can fill in most of the blanks.

In photo #9 for THE RAINBOW MAN, the woman holding the flowers is Eddie Dowling's wife, stage clown Ray Dooley. She's best known for playing bratty kids in Ziegfeld Follies sketches with W.C. Fields.
