Identifying several silent shorts featured in Soviet comedy

PostThu Sep 14, 2017 12:51 am

I'll try to repost my question from Image Gallery here.

There is a Soviet comedy - ironic western "A Man from the Boulevard des Capucines", filmed in 1987. It tells the story about power of art, when the life of people in typical Wild West town in the beginning of XX century is changed twice by new greatest invention - cinematograph.

So, cinema pioneers demonstrate several silent films to citizens of Santa Carolina - fictional "Wild West" town. Some of these films are well-known ("Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat" and "The Waterer Watered"), some are "fake" (filmed in the same 1987 specially for this comedy), some look authentic, but I have no idea - what are they.

If you do not mind, I'll give direct links to these mysterious fragments on youtube (the film is officially published there by production company):

And here are screenshots of those films, if you prefer static pictures:

Could you help me with identifying these films?

Apparently, you’re not the only one wondering. Or is that you too?

For what it’s worth the « немой трэш » looks modern to me, so, apart from the Lumière stuff and Chaplin’s Caught in a Cabaret, it’s the road dispute and the sailing couple in white I’m curious about.
