Bessie Love interview 1970s

PostWed Apr 11, 2018 11:18 am

just under 15 minutes with Judith Chalmers. She says she never looks back. Strange Swanson said the same thing. However Bessie recalls Griffith, Wilfred Lucas, Fairbanks with fondness.

She sounds like a heavy smoker-- not a voice you'd expect out of such a petite woman.

It's funny seeing Love turn up, without fanfare, in the likes of Vampyres. Makes you wonder if they knew who she was.

What a charming personality! And what a fascinating memories of a truly movie pioneer. From Griffith to Broadway Melody!

They screened a reconstruction of William S. Hart's The Aryan last Friday at the Museum of the Moving Image. Bessie Love looked fantastic. There's a frame enlargement of her and Hart: http://www.filmjournal.com/orphan-film- ... en-wonders
