Tweet bad disks ON DANGEROUS GROUND

In short, duplication is the process of burning information onto a blank DVD-R media and replication is the process of burning the exact information of the original CD/DVD onto ablank CD/DVD-R.

Why can't I make sense of this? It sounds exactly the same....

So why can they only do a run of 1,000 copies if replicating?

Staffing and equipment limitations at some vendors?

This site has pricing for 10,000 to 24,999 cds replicated with a 7 day turn around.

Seems hard to believe as that is alot of replications.

Replication isn't “burning.” It's analogous to pressing a phonograph record. Since the initial costs of preparing the master is high, a large production run is needed to take advantage of economies of scale.

I only ask because I just received a SECOND bad batch of disks as a replacement for the first batch of bad disks.... what a pain.....

Perhaps challenge them on their faulty equipment or not being up to the standard of other companies that do bulk processing.

They all seem to go bad just about the 2-minute mark. The freeze and pixelate and so shut down and go back to menu....

Unclear about the board ethics of it but it might be worth outing your supplier. Not sure they need any future business from these parts.

I mailed out replacements today to all who contacted me. If you didn't, I ddn't mail you anything.

No question about it. It reminded of my first Kickstarter for which I actually made all 100+ disks, designed and printed all the DVD art covers, trimmed them out and assembled everything by hand.

This was my third, maybe fourth, project with this company, and they deliver sealed DVD cases, so everything is done but to pack them up and mail them. It's a HUGE convenience to use a 1-stop disk maker like this. The downside is that your project can get lost in the shuffle of a big outfit.

On further review, a few minutes in just before the title card that starts with “ there goes battalion” there is a brief freeze and stutter with pixelation for a second or two then it plays fine again. Perhaps this flaw does plays out different depending on the DVD player? I have a Sony blue ray tricked up for multi region. I have not had time yet to watch the full movie to see if there are other flaws.

I too have a Sony BD player tricked for region free and it did the same thing. Haven't tried it in the PS3, Phillips DVD or Oppo DVD player.

Ed, thanks for the download! I burned it to a disc myself and while my penmanship is better than the average Millennial, it doesn't look as nice as a printed or LightScribed label. Oh well.

I got a chance to test that scene last night but unfortunately didn't get to watch the picture as family duties took precedent.
