How about some homophonic celebrity names:

Ed "Kookie" Byrnes ("lend me your comb");

Edward Burns (contemporary director); and

Edward Bernds (GREAT comedy director of the past).

Not quite exactly the same name, but similar enough for them to be confused in filmographies:

Ruth Etting (singer and occasional actress, although even she agreed she was better at the former than the latter).
And
Ruth Eddings (chorus girl in several Busby Berkeley movies).

Does it count that Stewart Granger's real name was James Stewart?


I always thought it was kind of funny that they even look a little similar (well, more than Gary Cooper and Edward Brophy, say).

Well, and on that note, Michael Keaton had to adopt the last name of his favorite silent comedian, because SAG already had a Michael Douglas.
