42nd Street Showing on TCM

PostWed Feb 08, 2017 10:27 pm

So, I turned on TCM & found 42nd Street playing. What I didn't anticipate was the description for visually impaired playing. I wondered how my TV git set for that since I didn't have the original TV remote for that set. I went to another room, turned on TCM ,& heard the same audio description playing. Did TCM send this transmission out with the scene description....That can't be turned off?

Noticed the same thing, and thought at first it was due to accidentally pressing a wrong button on the remote, but nothing on the cable box remote or TV remote could set the normal soundtrack. Then tried another TV with the standard-def TCM instead of TCM-HD and it was doing the same thing! Really weird.

At least I've got the Blu-ray (which looks and sounds wonderful). Too bad none of the other Busby Berkeley classics are on Blu-ray yet. (I don't count THE GANG'S ALL HERE as one of his classics, although I know some people seem to have a certain affection for it.)

The same thing happened here. I checked the settings on my cable box and TV. They were correct, so I had to watch something else. So the problem must have originated pretty far up the chain…

Same problem here, and the music seems to be on a slight delay as well.

Yes, clearly somebody at TCM goofed!
I caught the last half or so, and while watching it this way certainly presented some sort of novelty interest, it got pretty annoying after a little while.

I saw something on their Facebook today apologizing for the goof.
