Wow, I was talking about P&B only last week, probably around the time of all that LAM nonsense. Great to at least know that there is a chance that it may be restored and available for viewing ... someday. Or maybe I'll just fly to Finland.

Ken Kramer was a little nutty but sweet guy who was passionate about films. I'm glad Kathy is carrying on his legacy. I've seen the print and thought it looked great. He came back from New York saying how much the people from the Gershwin estate loved it and he received great compliments after the print played at LACMA too.

I appreciated the tip at the end to get a Library of Congress researcher card and they'll let you watch their copy. Next trip to DC I may do just that since it doesn't sound like I'll ever get to see it any other way.

If you're not too particular about quality, you can always find gray market, 30th generation dupes on eBay.

My school in NYC (likely unknowing it's a bootleg) has a cruddy but very watchable DVD copy that anyone can check out from the library. I did so and watched it about a year ago. Honestly, besides the few hits, I found it pretty boring. I liked Carmen Jones much better. Perhaps some London After Midnight Syndrome with this film?
