The Margaret Herrick library has press kits and lobby cards for many, many RKO titles in its collection, as well as the stills collection of the studio. Time Warner still possesses the records, and they are in Atlanta and inaccessible.
Does the Herrick Library require making an appointment like LOC or UCLA's library? I have scheduled research trips in June to LOC and August to UCLA and need to view a few non-digitized photos at Herrick Library of Mark Hamilton and was wondering if this requires advance appointments like other institutions?
Hi, If you're just looking at core biography or production stills, you do not need an appointment. If the photos are part of a special collection, which you can find online in their catalog, then yes, you will need to make an appointment. You might want to check out their periodical collection, they are indexing articles by person's name and film title, so you might find stuff there. They also have the entire run of Variety through the Variety digital subscription. They also have clipping files you can access just by walking in.
