Hal Roach movies introduced by young lovelies.

PostSun Jun 25, 2017 11:43 am

A memorable part of ANOTHER FINE MESS (1930) was its introduction by a pair of young ladies who spoke the credits. Recently I have watched LOOSER THAN LOOSE (1930) with Charley Chase, and 'The Boy Friends' in LADIES LAST and DOCTOR'S ORDERS (both 1930), which was given the same treatment, and I think one of the 'Little Rascals' featured the idea.

Does anyone know who the girls were and if they introduced any more films?

Those young ladies spoke the titles and credits of 3 Our Gang comedies: "TEACHER'S PET", "SCHOOL'S OUT" & "LOVE BUSINESS".

Thank you for that. Have seen all three of those quite recently, so thought it looked familiar. And all three with Miss Crabtree!

And June Marlowe (Miss Crabtree) was a knockout, too!

I just stumbled upon the White Stripes video for Doorbell and they pay tribute to these Hal Roach introductions.

IIRC, this was a short-lived attempt at taking "all-talking" literally.
