"Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"

PostTue Jun 27, 2017 6:11 pm

I watched this last night for the first time in a while, and as we know, Russell and Monroe did a number that was cut from the release print (they're briefly seen wearing the costumes in the film, and I've seen a number of stills of the sequence as well). Does anyone know if the footage exists in any form?

Yes there is a fragment of that footage, in Technicolor, included on the original 1953 Theatrical Trailer. Both girls can be seen doing their number from [02:13 to 02:20], they perform a synchronized spin atop a ladder, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. This number was entitled "Four French Dances".

As well as those tantalizing seven seconds, there were copious stills taken on the set, see below, of this same number. Most are in black & white, but a few are in colour.

Thank you very much for the information. I didn't see any still included in your post but I'll look again later...the internet is being crabby today.
