The Big Combo

PostMon Sep 04, 2017 8:26 am

An advertising insert in a recent Olive Films DVD purchase got me interested in an old film noir, The Big Combo (1955). I did some searching on various sites and came up with three DVD issues of this flick. Unfortunately, none of the sites or comments make it clear if any of these issues have captioning. Does anyone know?

I don't have any disc version, but I did just take a look at Amazon's streaming version for Prime customers.

That version does have English subs which can be turned on.
The words are kind of small for some reason (at least on this laptop) and flash by quickly.
They call it a "digitally remastered version," it looks good (on a laptop).

Um, Jim, you know the Joseph H. Lewis gimmick sequence in this one?

The matter is complicated, and I shall proceed to complicate it still more.

There's a YT upload of THE BIG COMBO with auto-generated English subtitles.

No. Pray enlighten me. Or at least jolt my memory if it turns out I do indeed know it without remembering it.

Have you ever watched anything on YT with auto-generated English subtitles? Not acceptable.
