Filmoteca: EL JUGADOR (1947)

Based upon a novel by Dostoievsky, this 59 minute movie is one of the strangest and great productions of its time. Leon Klimvosky's first directing credit (a filmmaker who worked better in Argentina than in Spain) put to use all of his cinephilia: he had established the first Cine Club in the country many years ago. The music score was written and performed by organist Julio Perceval; he was a silent film organist.
