The Official Talkies online deals thread

PostSat Sep 11, 2010 1:07 am

For those who enjoy FOX classics, in celebration of their 75th anniversary, they are releasing a lot of their classics in quad sets. Target is selling each set for $9.99 which is a STEAL! As of September 5, 2010, they have released set 1-11 (#10 has not been released and no one knows if there is a vol. 10, 6-11 was in Target stores on July 2010). Warner Brothers Classic Holiday Collection, Vol. 1 (Boys Town / A Christmas Carol [1938] / Christmas in Connecticut / The Singing Nun)

Warner Brothers Classic Holiday Collection, Vol. 2 (All Mine to Give / Holiday Affair / It Happened on 5th Avenue / Blossoms in the Dust)

It's over but hopefully some of you were able to score the Abbot & Costello Universal set from Amazon yesterday. It was down to $56 but I expect this to happen again on Black Friday.

The Laurel & Hardy 21-Disc Set on Amazon UK dropped.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... os_product

Not sure if it's for today or what...but the price is now:

£26.24 (note: On the site it says £30.83 but when you check out, the VAT is dropped and becomes 26). Total for me and I live in California is: £29.32

It comes to around $46 (US) but I have been waiting for this to go under $60 and this is the cheapest I have seen it since. That's pretty good for 21 DVD's (and I just bought the Abbot & Costello set which was $56).

THESE COUPONS END TOMORROW (11/14/2010)

Sunday is the last day to use these 25% off coupons, so if you have a Barnes & Noble nearby, use it! Especially for the Criterion Collection sale that ends on the 21st. Tomorrow (Sunday the 14th is the final day). One is for everyone and three are for members.

For members, just remember that they will need to do separate transactions per coupon and if they tell you, that they can do only one coupon. Let them know that each coupon has a separate code and they will take it.

Just remember to right click and view image on the coupons so the Barnes & Noble URL shows up in the printout....

NON-MEMBER COUPON (ANYONE CAN USE THIS)

And if you are a member...you have three more coupons you can use (total of four) which all end tomorrow as well:

The awesome Abbot & Costello Universal Set has dropped from $119+ to $47.99 on Amazon. This set has been offered last month via lightning deal for $54 but $47 is probably the lowest anyone is going to find of this set new.

OK for the wbshop Black Friday sale:

I figured it out how to get the cheaper price featured (earlier today, if ou clicked on it and did check out, the price went up by $4-$7).

To get the cheaper price, you need to login to your Inside Rewards Membership (this is free):

http://insiderrewards.warnerbros.com/

You will see a banner that goes to the store for 25% off click on that and then you can start your shopping with the lower price discount.

And then when you check out, you will get the cheaper price.

Now to use the $5 coupon off, you need five items I think:

CEUS-RDA6-2TMD-QPG2

Also try SMODCAST...it may work for $5 off one item.

-------------
I know some of you have held out in buying a Blu-ray but they are getting pretty cheap. Here is a very good LG Blu-ray player on sale on Amazon right now via Black Friday sale for $69 and with free shipping. It also plays various media files if you connect your USB card to it and also streams YouTube videos. No Mubi, Netflix or Hulu though.

They also had several of the "Franchise Collection" sets for $12.99-$14.99 (with no rhyme or reason as to the price differences).
