admin: Notification Problem?

PostThu Jan 28, 2016 11:54 am

Before this week, whenever I received a notice someone had responded to a topic, it began with "admin- Topic reply notification." I could easily go and click on the highlighted link to visit the topic.

Now, each time I receive the message, the links are no longer highlighted when viewed on my AOL account. I must highlight, copy and then paste it to the top of my page to use the link provided. It's about five steps where before I simply clicked on the link.

Is this an issue with my service provider?
AOL keeps changing things, but I'm still able to click onto links from other sources.

It is the way that AOL displays the message. The messages are sent as text with no special notations around the links (unlike on this forum, where they are usually automatically caught and displayed as links. Here is the actual message source that I received in a message on Tuesday:

Code: Select all
If you want to view the newest post made since your last visit, click the
following link:
http://www.nitrateville.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3022&p=165176&e=165176

If you want to view the topic, click the following link:

If you want to view the forum, click the following link:

So unless the AOL mail reader, our your mail program can tell that the message contains links, they won't be clickable. Another possibility is that AOL thinks the message could be spam, and won't let you click on the links for your safety.

Thanks for the response Bruce. This has not been a problem in the several years I've been using AOL.

I know they've been working on the system since one day, I could not access my contacts for email and on another, they kept telling me my mail could not be sent because of a problem (unspecified) yet the mail was sent.

It's not the end of the world and perhaps tomorrow it will be back to normal.

My last "Topic Notification" from Nitrateville came with highlighted links again as before. Apparently it was an AOL issue that's been straightened out.
