NFPF/LoC grants working with NitrateVille? Maybe?

Hey, I just joined this community recently, and put up a post about r/TrueFilm's releasing Borzge's 1922 The Pride of Palomar. This community quickly, very quickly, became our Kickstarter's biggest contributors, moreso than Kickstarter, and even Reddit, our home base! You all are the real deal. So, I've been voraciously digging through the site, and have started milling around some ideas that I thought might be interesting to you.

First, speaking for r/TrueFilm, we tried contacting the National Film Preservation Foundation to see about getting some grants for our project. No such luck, since they only give grants to non-profits like the Library of Congress. However, they regularly give out grants to representatives of 501(c)3 organizations. These organizations could get the necessary grants to work with the LoC. Why not team up? Why not have NitrateVille and r/TrueFilm join together as a 501(c)3 non-profit association, draw up an Articles of Association, get everyone who wants to be involved to sign it, and start receiving grants to work with these movies?

I think our campaign is something very special. But after digging through this community, I realize that it's not unique. You guys do kickstarters all the time. I don't know if you've already looked into grants and/or a 501(c)3 (I'm still combing through posts), but if not, I think that's something seriously worth considering. What do you think?
