So I have noticed. These Russians obviously have 5% of their brain working quite well when it comes to computers - the other 95% is imbecilic in that what they are doing is of useless consequence.

We're on it. I've deleted at least 200 posts since yesterday. Stronger anti-spam measures will be applied...the guillotine and rack are especially effective.

I think we're all aware of it and grateful for the efforts, even when we don't say thank you when we should.

Thank you.

Your efforts are appreciated. Visiting N'ville this morning was like entering the kitchen, turning on the light, and finding bugs in the sink.

Thanks, Bob, and you're welcome.

Typically the spammers will keep trying for a few days, then give up when they see that we quickly wipe out their posts every time. Backstage, we're discussing a new method at the moment that's been very effective on another forum that I moderate, and it doesn't even involve severed heads or limbs.

Persistent little cockroaches, aren't they? You'd think if they'd get into the crowdfunding section, they'd kick in a couple of roubles.

Same guy that was here for a few days in the summer. Crawled back into his hole, now crawled out again. New secret weapon has been deployed. :)

I have not read the messages that the spammers have left, but I only assume they are peddling items. Do they do this as somewhat of a sick hobby to aggravate people, or do they actually generate activity from readers of various sites sufficient to keep it up?

Honestly, I think it has something to do with raising your search rankings based on getting referrals from other sites, which is why discussion sites are prey to this type—they get good traffic and are easy to add a link back to yourself at. But I really don't know what the point is, I just know they're goin' down!
