I hope many people here will consider supporting the September Storm restoration project. This is exactly the kind of film most in danger of slipping through the cracks, neglected and forgotten. As is mentioned in the video, September Storm is historically significant for technical reasons (two-strip 3-D + CinemaScope), but it also boasts direction by Byron Haskin (Treasure Island, War of the Worlds), a screenplay by W.R. Burnett (Little Caesar, The Great Escape), and is graced by the presence of Joanne Dru, who I think was never lovelier. And the scenery!
Our restoration of THE ADVENTURES OF SAM SPACE (aka SPACE ATTACK) will be included as a bonus on the proposed 3-D Blu-ray of SEPTEMBER STORM. This short originally played theatrically with the feature in 1960! But we still need your help to raise the funds to save this lost 3-D feature.
Wow! The campaign is really closing in on its target.
Every contribution is meaningful to a project like this, even down to the smallest. If you have not done so, please consider a contribution, or perhaps share the link with others who may be interested.
To those who have already supported the project, many heartfelt thanks to you!
We've just updated our SEPTEMBER STORM page to thank the generous donors that have made this restoration possible. There are also some new photos and clippings on the film. Enjoy! http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/september-storm
Thanks to Matthew Hartman at High-Def Digest for this terrific review!
"As modern blockbusters flood 3-D screens, it's important to take a look back at the classics, the trailblazers who paved the way for what we enjoy today. 'September Storm' may have been made at the tail end of an era but the film is an important piece of history none the less. Thanks to 3-D Film Archive, 3-D Space, and their releasing partner Kino Lorber, this film gets to breathe new life outside of a film storage can."
