Film can humidors

PostFri Apr 06, 2018 8:08 pm

Some film cans have a little mesh humidor to soak up some liquid. Do you know what they used in the humidor? Do you think it did any good?

Thanks

Those pads were for camphor oil. However it is not recommended as the raw oil can get on the film causing a nice mess. However, camphor in the form of tablets is a good idea for non polyester stocks.

Interesting. Never heard of the tablets. Wonder why camphor is good for acetate?

If I get chance I will take a photo of the reel can humidor. I'm making a little photo archive of odd ball small gauge film cans. Sad all this stuff is being lost to history.

Help to keep the film from getting dried out and brittle.
