Short 16 min film. Machine is slow, but it works!

Of course the first comment is why they didn’t buy a machine, since it’s well known that all archives have more money than they know what to do with, and no interest in understanding the processes they use, that building a machine might teach.

Does this mean that the Telecine can only use 35mm? Louis? Any thoughts on the matter?

Maybe they were not a rich archive. They said in the film they were working on a grant to fund it. Maybe they like building things?

I prefer to buy machines and just use them. But I'd be no good at building anyway.

Only they cunningly hide this fact by always pretending they're underfunded. ;) ;)
