THE QUIET MAN

PostSat Mar 15, 2008 3:13 pm

TCM ran this a few weeks ago and their print seems to be in much better shape than what is currently available on DVD.

Is there any hope of a better transfer of this film...?

Any takers on this one...?

Sorry, I just don't think anyone has an answer offhand.

It seems likely that if a better transfer was made, it wasn't made only for TCM showing. The best transfers on TCM generally tend to be the ones that have also been released on DVD. So it's reasonable to hope it will be coming out... I just don't have any specifics.

The Republic library has not been well-served on DVD. The Quiet Man has long been considered one of the poorest of transfers. Not sure why it has not been re-done.
