Lost World is on my wish list, and the Forever Amber new bluray that is coming out this month.

Some of the items on my wish list: Fritz Lang Box Set, Beggars of Life, and John Bunny - Film's First King of Comedy. I've been good this year. I promise.

Hoping to get Gloria Swanson in Zaza. As for "wishes" still wishing that the noir Christmas Holiday would be released.

In the Christmas Miracle category, I'd line to see a Blu-Ray boxset of Lillian Gish's MGM silent films. Realistically, I'd be very happy with Jeff Codori's biography of Colleen Moore.

The new(ish) Warner Archive Collection blu-ray of The Sea Wolf (1941) is at the top of my list.

I'd like to get Swanson's Zaza, When Knighthood Was in Flower, T-Men, The Sheik and Son of, Green Slime and Masnster.

I've been away for four days and came back to make a discovery: sucking up to your betters actually works!

Seriously, it's hard to believe I actually won anything. This is a guy who buys three lottery tickets every Friday and doesn't even get a "free ticket" reward out of them for decades. In the Lotto 6/49, where you have to pick six numbers, the six I always pick have never turned up together in the 35+ years history of the draw. (I keep picking these numbers because they're surely overdue, aren't they?)

Anyway, I'm extremely happy to win something meaningful for once! I last saw The Lost World at the Cinesation in Saginaw in 1998, with Sam Rubin sitting in the same row visibly excited. Watching it at home will certainly bring back a happy memory or two.

In addition to the return of the fashion faux pas of tucking our sweaters in, I wish that Criterion keeps their Lloyd and Chaplin series going... and adds additional silent geniuses to their list, like, say... Arbuckle?

If you could wish for 1 movie or boxed set for Christmas, and get it, what would it be?

After all these years, I'm still wishing for a blu-ray box set of upgraded restorations of the Thames Silents series that Brownlow, Gill, and Davis did a quarter century ago. I'm grateful for The Big Parade, of course, but whoo, how nice it'd be to have The Crowd, A Woman of Affairs, Show People, The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg, The Wind, &c with those wonderful Davis scores.

But considering the bounty of releases we've seen in the past year alone, I'm not about to complain!

My Christmas wish is very special. I hope that one day all lost films suddenly re-appear. There are lots of silents and early talkies I would like to get acquainted with. Among the latter are "quota quickies" made by WB's Teddington Studios in Great Britain in the 1930's. Think if all lost Norwegian, Danish and Swedish silents of the 1910's were available for film enthusiasts in 2018. Naturally it is an impossible dream. Chistmas is the season when our deepest wishes are allowed to be put forward, although my heart knows that they'll remain unfulfilled.
