I have launched www.altscore.com today, where you can purchase and download MP3's of musical scores that synch with silents on DVD. I have already recorded scores for two features, and am working on one or two more releases for end of March. There are a couple of free offerings as well.

That's something I may have to look into! I cannot say that I've ever disliked any scores of your yet! I've also heard many of them on the Edison: The Invention of the Movies DVD! Wink

Thanks to both of you. I've gotten real good at duplicating silent film titles, matching typefaces and formatting.

Glad you liked the Edison scores....they were done so long ago I may offer new ones at some point.

FYI, for those of you who haven't gone to the site yet, I should mention the tracks are currently priced at $4 apiece or less -- Sherlock, Jr. $2.95, Beyond the Rocks $3.95, etc -- plus for a limited time there are free downloads of 3 Arbuckle shorts...

I haven't had a chance to watch Sherlock with your score yet, but I've listened to the score itself and it's really great. I don't mind the one on the Kino DVD as *music* but I hate it as accompaniment to the movie.

Keep up the good work!

Well, I purchased and downloaded Ben's score for SHERLOCK, JR., followed the easy synch prompt at the beginning, and voila! Good-bye Clubfoot! Ben's piano score is absolutely charming, and fits the film perfectly. The synch was right dead on. What a fabulous idea. I highly suggest all you SHERLOCK, JR. DVD owners get over to Ben's site and save yourselves from further Clubfoot listening. It's an absolute steal at $2.95. Hurry up with that PENALTY score, Ben...I gotta have it!

And, let me add my 2 cents, the Beyond the Rocks score is lovely and a wonderful addition.

Ben, we'll be talking about this soon, I promise!

New release from www.altscore.com:

"HEART O' THE HILLS"
Alternate musical score now available!

I have just uploaded a new piano score that synchs with the Milestone DVD release of Mary Pickford in "HEART O' THE HILLS". Just $3.95 for a download of the full score as one MP3, or as two separate files to burn to standard audio CD's (the film is just a bit too long to fit on one disc, and some people may not have the capability to play back an MP3 disc on their player). (This is a score for "HEART" only, not "M'LISS")

Still available are:
- Buster Keaton in "Sherlock Jr."
- Buster Keaton in "The Cameraman"
- Lon Chaney in "The Penalty"
- Helen Gardner in "Cleopatra"
- DVD set disc 1 of "Harry Langdon: Lost and Found"
- Houdini in "Terror Island"
- Houdini in "The Man From Beyond"
- Valentino and Swanson in "Beyond the Rocks"

Click on www.altscore.com to order.
