Here's a deal from the Warner Archives:

Until end of business on June 30 2010 DeepDiscount have a up to 55% off sale of WB Archive Collection. This means a $40 set is $18 and a $30 disc is $13.98. However they are basing the single DVD price on $30rrp not their usual $19.39 price so those prices are just below their $14.54 25MORE sale just ended and ran a lot longer to order from.

This does not include some of the recently issued or announced WB Archive titles like Joe E Brown, Whistling, Ripley's, Classic Musical Shorts and other recent goodies. Pity but maybe later.

There is still a mix up in their Order History pages which I discovered today. I was checking before I compiled a new order(will forward this before the date of expiry, theirs not mine). I found that I still had 2 x copies of Lace listed(I ordered 1x) & I had in, fact, ordered Lace 2 which didn't appear. They answered that they had deleted the extra copy and that I had to order Lace 2 on another order as they cannot alter the order for additions which i have done a few days ago. However, besides the 2x still showing they have cancelled the order for The Story of Will Rogers which hadn't been shipped being on backorder. I have written another Incident Report so I will see what happens. A couple of other recent orders show Shipped(not partially shipped) but there is a title on each of those orders that are listed OPEN & not shipped yet.

I have returned as requested by them my copy of Rio Rita which is faulty and not correctable so I will await and see if they get this and replace as promised. Internationally, Amazon would refund and then recharged with a new shipping, the Credit/Charge charges matching but one gets to not ship back the faulty item which is no use to them but a lot of trust between Amazon & the client is involved here and I don't abuse that.

I have to say that with a lost parcel from May 18 now being replaced(one at a time because the whole order was WB Archive and must be ordered, but incorrect because one of the 4 items in the shipment was not a Warner Archives title) I have got most of the items from the 25MORE sale shipment to me as of yesterday which is good going as I live Down Under.

All KINO Blu-rays are $9.99 for today and tomorrow on bestbuy.com. Get them now before the sale ends! Sale also pertains to in-store as well.

In-Store (Criterion 50% off sale at Barnes & Nobles):

People have been reporting success and fail for the in-store coupons. The $5 coupon does mention only DVD’s and not Blu-ray, some stores allowing it for Blu-rays, some are not. So, definitely YMMV and wouldn’t be surprised if one would need to have the manager to come and decide if they will take it or not.
And as mentioned earlier, people have used the coupons multiple times at different B&N brick and mortar locations.

With the last few days of the sale, I managed to pickup some of the titles that you all recommended (Since many of them are $14.99 right now) but I am deciding if I should pull the trigger for the Eclipse Series - Travels with Hiroshi Shimizu. Btw, is Haxan any good?....Looks kind of evil. Hehe..

I like the Shimizu set, the films are modest and low-key but feature very accomplished location footage. Mostly rural and with what we would call blue-collar characters. Restrained but still emotionally moving. I especially appreciated a different, fresh viewpoint into Japanese society.

Haxan is presented in two versions, the narrated version is atrocious. Will be heading back to B&N tonight to see if anyone snagged that copy of Ran, if not it's mine. Also consider some of the early talkies from Criterion like "M", "The 3 Penny Opera" and "The Testament of Dr. Mabuse".

Thanks for the recommendation, I went ahead and purchased the Shimizu set. Have "M" on Blu and "The 3 Penny Opera"....I've always wanted the Dr. Mabuse but noticed that MoC has released the trilogy in set.

That's a great price for the Langdon DVD. I thought it was OOP at one time because it was so hard to find but managed to buy it for nearly $20.

Maybe it's been on sale for a while and I didn't notice.

I took a look at those Criterions and the Josef von Sternberg set is not included, bummer. However, the Fantomas box set from Kino this September was listed at $24.47. My order went through fine but time will tell if I actually get it.
