Goose Woman (1925) and Lonesome (1928) at the Film Forum

PostTue May 01, 2012 6:54 pm

New York’s Film Forum is doing a big Universal centenary festival this summer, including a number of silents. The most interesting of these, that is, the most rarely screened, appear to be The Goose Woman (July 24, 8:20) and Lonesome (August 6, 6:45).

They’re also doing a Monday night Von Stroheim series starting at the end of May.

Sounds good. The first time I ever saw LONESOME was at The Film Forum on Nov. 25, 1996. It would be nice to see it again there if I can work it out.

I really loved The Goose Woman, terrific performance by Louise Dresser. I hope to see Lonesome on the big screen sometime.

What she said. GOOSE WOMAN is outrageously melodramatic, but Dresser is terrific.
