Some of the Texas Guinan movies that tguinan is giving away on another thread are: A Moonshine Feud (1920): This two-reeler from 1920 has Texas Guinan and her brothers living in a shack. Re: NEW KICKSTARTER: THE COSSACK WHIP (1916)

I see the folks at Kickstarter have ranked this a “Project We Love”, as they have others of Ed’s in the past. Doesn’t mean a thing practically, but it’s nice, now that the contributors have topped a hundred.

How many before Usanians get a case, Ed?

According to Wikipedia, Bell and Howell started producing Commercial zoom lenses in 1932. I have no doubt a good cameraman could have made one earlier. Re: How do you discover films to watch?

I look at anything that comes my way. Fortunately, I have a somewhat academic approach to films, so I gain some perverse pleasure in fitting almost anything into the mosaic. In addition, living in Manhattan and having a MOMA membership, I get to see a lot of oddities and rarities and there are some ...

Easy Living (1937) is written by Preston Sturges and directed with both gorgeous 30s gloss and high energy by Mitchell Leisen. And really, what more could you ask? As good as Sturges was at directing his own work, he never had an eye to rival Leisen's—just compare the scene in which Jean Arthur wan...

TCM Underground showed Breakin' (1984) last night; I had gone to sleep after watching The Hidden Fortress for perhaps the 20th time, so I had to delay my enjoyment of this classic movie until the morning.
