Re: Kevin Brownlow's HOLLYWOOD on Amazon Prime

I also bought a few years ago a DVD set transferred from the laserdisc set. Purchased from the USA, good price, excellent NTSC quality, and it will alway be a pleasure to re-watch :D . Glad I took the opportunity to get it. How many DVDs comprise your set? I see two versions for sale, both on DVDs ...

Re: Best "bad" singing in a classic era film?

Is it just me, or is Ruby Keeler's voice deeper than Dick Powell's in that number?😂 I will say she's cute as a button in "Pettin' in the Park". I reckon you're right!. Thoroughly enjoy her acting dancing and singing in all her films. Would NEVER  consider her a "bad" singer. I have the 9 Film...

Re: Kevin Brownlow's HOLLYWOOD on Amazon Prime

There is a website that sells DVDs off the laserdiscs and the copies are very good. I found it by googling. I have seen a copy of the DVDs referred to. The transfers off laserdisc are extremely good....much better thanI expected. My question is: why would a company like Amazon Prime show this well-...

If you're interested in classic foreign film, the 1934 french version of Les Miserables from Masters of Cinema is available from eBay.uk on BluRay for less than 8 pounds. A stunning production from Raymond Bertrand - well worth considering!

This is the same musical that I posted about in October 2013 regarding the upcoming premiere here in Melbourne Australia:

I clicked on the first link I supplied at that time and it took me straight to the Broadway show.

IMHO using some sort of database is much safer than any online method. For several years I've been using "Movie Collector" from Collectorz.com on my Mac and my Android tablet and mobile (cell) phone. There are other versions available for PC, iPad and iPhone. Extremely happy with what it does. My co...

Re: Old Movies in HD: An Ongoing Guide

One of my favourite films! My purchased DVD copy (NTSC region free) has the correct tinted ending - first green, then sepia, and then the final shot being the portrait in full Technicolor. Would have loved to experience this on the big screen when released, with the ending in large screen Magnascope...

This storyline sounded very familiar so I checked my DVD of "Mrs Winterbourne" (1996) directed by Richard Benjamin with Shirley MacLaine,Ricki Lake and Brendan Fraser. The credits include the following: "Based upon the Novel I Married a Dead Man by Cornell Woolrich".

The KOJ restoration is being shown in Melbourne 26th December-10th January as part of Seniors' Cinema - ticket prices $7 to $13 AUD. Don't know if it's being shown anywhere else in Australia but I'm really looking forward to the chance to see it as it should be seen, and hopefully on a large screen....
