Re: Judy Randall where are you?

Great to see family members of long past movie and entertainment personalities come here with their stories. Thank you.
Starlit Days at the Lido also looks fantastic on DVD. The mind boggles to what it would look like in 2 or 4K.

Re: Warner Archive for 2018

The Lost Squadron used to be on Laser Disk. From what I remember the quality of the print and transfer was outstanding for those days. One of the best B&W Laser Disks I viewed. I wonder of th WA version is as good?

Saw it a few years ago. Hopeless film but has curiosity value given its history and seeing John Wayne in arguably his biggest turkey.

Re: bad disks ON DANGEROUS GROUND

On further review, a few minutes in just before the title card that starts with “ there goes battalion” there is a brief freeze and stutter with pixelation for a second or two then it plays fine again. Perhaps this flaw does plays out different depending on the DVD player? I have a Sony blue ray tri...

Re: NY Post: Millennials don’t really care about classic mov

With so much access to all kinds of films, TV shows, documentaries and so on these days it not surprising old films are under appreciated. I find I am overwhelmed with content and choices available with anything made in the past decade for starters. Many times I am recommended I should watch this or...

I visited San Simeon in the early nineties and loved it so much that I visited again in 2001. It is a major highlight on the scenic road trip midway along the coast from LA to SF. A truly wonderful piece of genuine 1920’s over the top oppulence and kitsch set in fantastic countryside with lots of wi...

Re: Queen Kelly (1929)

Had the privilege around 1980 of meeting Diva Swanson at a showing of "Queen Kelly" as she was going around showing how the film would have played out with "fill out" scenes. She said it was the first time she'd seen the film in many years, and she was SO-O-O sauve and elegant about all of it. What...

If Mr Weinstein was around in the 30’s or any other time in history his behaviour would have been the same but with less chance of being caught. His money and power would have ensured that. His victims would also have been less likely to come forward as the shame heaped on by the judgemental would h...

Re: National League of Decency

I tend to think the so called "good old days" when there was censorship and life was ideal and safe as portrayed by films were a great big lie. It was like an alternate universe. We used to live in a poor suburb and there was drunkedness and verbal and physical violence everywhere. My mother and I w...

Re: Good Films with Bad Titles?

I won't go into specifics because there are too many, but reading the titles of modern films in general leaves me utterly clueless to what they might be about. Many seem far too cryptic and meaningless. I find that less of a problem with older titles. Further, more than once when visitors who know n...

Sir Roger's death has seen another link to a past life I once had severed.
