Was the POTO set destroyed or just disassembled and moved to storeage somewhere else?

Great catch. Let's hope it hasn't gone the same way as the Phantom stage.

Please, the blocks are there, and the image it's already dark, and the blocks was reported by the reviewer. If blu ray discs have such problems, what to tell about TV broadcasting and streaming ? Anyway I no longer watch TV for this, and TVs itself it's not good enough but pretty ugly. And digital a...

Re: The Beauty and The Beasty (1946) --and the beast blocking...

Criterion next Blu Ray of Beauty and |the Beast will be better, with fine encoding I bet. Annoying how BD it's prone to ugly blocking in shadows, and if it had no rich bitrate and very careful encoding, it always turn into large blocks, killing shadow tonalities. Even in scenes where the image have ...

Nitrate plastic have more transparency than acetate and than pollyes...

Interesting : http://vimeo.com/205614356 But why they scanned in 4K before a carefully cleaning of the camera negative. There is a scene (03:44), showing the film on computer, with a lot of fine dirty, and then showing the dirty highlighted in red (detected by restoration software) that give us the ...

Problably they got 2 reels while searching footage for the movie, or one of the copies went to theater with repeated reels for reel 2.
Can't say more without details.

Yes, I was aware about FOX's "technicolor holocaust". To junk fine grain master it's a incredible stupid thing, from old Fox's policy, since today they care about preservation. While some CRI was well made, other CRI hadn't luck and was even bad exposed and bad developed and also had fadding in bad ...

What is the context ? I supose it cab be a lab mistake packing a film, for distribution, with two reel of a given number, like two copies of reel 2, intead one reel 2 and one reel 3. Or it can be a film preservation case, like searching for footage of a film in a archive, and there were more than on...

How is color film duplication today, compared to the late 60's? I know it's better, but that time they used to make prints from camera negative, and today they make prints from a internegative (made from a interpositive made from camera negative). With these two extra steps in printing making, is th...

The worst relation between camera size and resolution (for cameraman and for stand) was some color video cameras of the late 60's, I presume, which required also a back pack. http://eyesofageneration.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Ampex-300-ENG-Camera-This-was-a-small-monochrome-camera-which-was-use...
