Re: The next Cartoon Roots Blu-ray/DVD: Bobby Bumps (Indiegogo)

Would I love to put out an additional set or two of Bobby Bumps cartoons after the initial one is released? Absolutely! I may make an effort to raise funds for a follow-up at some point, especially after seeing what public reception is like for the first set. It's a historically important series, al...

Many thanks—and that's alright by me! No trouble at all, especially if it gets others even more excited about the upcoming release. :D Excellent! And, hey, you mention that you've found around three dozen of the total number of BB cartoons that were made (61 according to my painstaking research at ...

Re: Nitrate Laurel & Hardy print on eBay

Sorry to disagree a bit, but a Keystone's Chaplin (with hin in keystone cop uniform) lost film was found in a antiques fair. And a 16mm Keystone film which the finale (a dozen seconds that was lost) was found on eBay. These Laurel&Hardy original prints are rare, despite the film title itself don't ...

Re: Did you ever buy a 16mm sound scanner?

Transfer from a wall isn't necessarily inferior. A friend of mine swears by the results. But he's in the USA and I'm not, so now the shipping is prohibitive. This all depends on what the OP is hoping to achieve. A screener? An archival digital master? Shooting off the wall is OK for the former. Few...

Re: Is this movie from 1927 or is it a modern phony?

This reminds me of the time animation critic Charles Solomon wrote in Enchanted Drawings (a history of animation) that considering no prints existed of J. Stuart Blackton's "Humpty Dumpty Circus" (1908), a stop-motion film supposedly made utilizing Blackton's daughter's jointed wooden toys, and sinc...

Re: Nitrate Laurel & Hardy print on eBay

Again what does the seller mean by "Very Rare" , "Rare", etc. How can these be rare if they are already on DVD and there may be other prints in the world or in archives just like the ones for sale? When was the last time you could walk into Wal-Mart...or Cinefest for that matter...and consider buyi...

Patience. It took over 85 years to find the second reel. I hope it doesn't take another 80 years lol. I don't have that long left! …and it's under copyright. Good point. Being under copyright may be good news though. Instead of a public domain release we may eventually be treated to a license...

Re: NEW KICKSTARTER: MARION DAVIES in BURIED TREASURE (1921)

I understand the larger question of what happens to all the donations that exceed the $2,000 goal? Whether Mr.L puts it to good use or puts it in is pocket, that doesn't concern me. All that concerns me is that if the project meets its goal, and I pay $25, I want to receive the movie. I agree compl...

Now, many people are going to think it's rude and ungrateful to say so, but it's a bit of a weak spot that the budget is not specified at all. In professional business, people wouldn't get away with that. Reportedly a question about this simply went unanswered (I saw the project getting mentioned i...
