THE IDLE CLASS A/B Cameras Comparison

Here comes another comparison: THE IDLE CLASS. Made up between the 1943 version assembled by Rollie Totheroh (reissued in 1971) - from mainly outtakes - and the original 1921 (?) foreign version, from an Italian print. Can you imagine that all the Chaplin's First National films that we know today ar...

The Jerry Lewis Show (1960) Color Videotape and BW Kinescope

This video was non-listed for a long time, but I'm putting it in public 'cause I think there's no problem anymore.
Besides, Jerry deserves it. Let's hope they release the full show.

Here is an article/comparison of a British 1950's reissue of THE KID with the common version we all know.
Perhaps could be the same version shown in Argentina...?

Re: Flicker Alley Chaplin Essanay shorts announced

Can you point me to somewhere that lists the shorts that are different in the Essanay set? With the Mutuals Cineteca signed off on the Spanish disk, then Flicker Alley did some tweaks, then BFI fixed Flicker Alley's mistakes and added more scores. The basic film transfer looks the same in all three...

Re: Flicker Alley Chaplin Essanay shorts announced

The problem with the Spanish BD is that it has some work-in-progress prints. I heard that about the Mutual set, but not the Essanays... And then the additional work that was completed in the Flicker Alley Mutuals set threw the audio out of sync, so the cure was worse than the disease. Yup, also wit...

Re: Flicker Alley Chaplin Essanay shorts announced

I think the Spanish, Flicker Alley and BFI versions are all the same as far as the films themselves. The Spanish one is cheaper and doesn't have supplements. Well, it has other supplements, like "Hooray for Charlie", "Little Tich and his big boots", and "The Little Tramp", but nothing important. Th...

Re: Archived Intertitles?

But, what about the original CARDS? I mean, the original cardboard (or paper, I don't know which material they used) with the words and drawings? They're archived somewhere or were just filmed and thrown away? By the way, which size they were? There was any standards for it? Lots of curiosity about ...

In JUMPING JACKS (1952), during the lunch at the train, Jerry Lewis show both hands and say "Two hands. One for each head. Hahaha!"
That intrigues me... really mean what I think it means?

Re: Buster Keaton Is "A Hard Act To Follow"

I always noticed that two versions of this documentary exists. One without some screen graphics and some footage. The other one is OK, but another thing strange to me is differences in Lindsay Anderson's narration. In one version, he starts saying "It was in this house, in Piqua, Kansas, in 1895, th...

Re: A Countess from Hong Kong, New UK Chaplin Blu-rays and D

Speaking of The Chaplin Revue, I have to repeat, once more, that I find it very unfortunate that the ONE presumably "original" (1919) copy of SHOULDER ARMS remains in a film archive in Denmark, just collecting dust. It's supposed to be superior to the Revue version, and what's more; it's far closer...

Re: A Countess from Hong Kong, New UK Chaplin Blu-rays and D

To previous posters: It was actually Neil Brand who scored the mk2/Warner DVDs’ 1925 Gold Rush . Tippi Hedren’s Hitchcock contract was bought out by Universal, who then put her in Countess . I've completely revised and updated my earlier review and discovered that the AE's contain dozens of HD excl...
