Re: Questions re: AT&T Uverse

I'm unable to record from U-verse at all. I had a box that stripped off the copyguard but it's stopped working.

That film was the hit of Cinecon about 10 years ago. I'd love to have a print of that one myself.

I haven't replaced all my non-archival plastic cans, but a good majority are archival. No metal cans. Got a bunch I'll sell though!

The company split a couple of years ago. News Corp has the newspaper business. The film and television is now 21st Century-Fox.

Universal Non-Theatrical?

Does anyone know who handles non-theatrical bookings for Universal films.

Also, would anyone know who handles the non-theatrical rights for WestFront 1918?

Re: Research about silent cinema fans - Silent film festival

I've been to Cinecon in LA 7 times, Kansas Silent Film Festival 8 times, Cinevent in Columbus 4 times and Slapsticon (Arlington, VA) and Cinefest (Syracuse) once each. I've also been involved in quite a few silent screenings locally here in Dallas. That includes providing prints and running the proj...

Mine arrived today. As soon as I put my house back together I'm looking forward to seeing this again.

Confession: I dozed a bit at Cinecon. It wasn't the movie, I tend to do that anyway....

Amazon does have the MGM "Babes in Toyland". I have it; it is packaged as "March of the Wooden Soldiers", but has the original title. Quality is gorgeous. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/March-Wooden-Soldiers-Stan-Laurel/dp/B001D8W7FE/ref=tmm_dvd_title_2?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1518400612&sr=8-...

Re: Laurel & Hardy Public Domain

I'm pretty sure all those versions are licensed, but if you want the best version, get the one from MGM. It's the original release version, made from the original negative. Thanks for the tip! After writing this, I went to Amazon to see if it was still available. It only is available in a set with ...

Re: The quality of repertory showings and home theaters

When I was a teenager we used to spend two weeks in Boston every summer. I would make at least two visits to the Exeter Street Theater. https://www.cinematour.com/tour/us/21977.html It was a very atmospheric old theater that ran double features of classic films. The first time I went was the Marx Br...

Re: 10th Annual Watch That Movie Night is January 26!

I had planned on screening my print of WHAT PRICE GLORY? (1926) but it turned out to be a busier weekend than I had planned. Since I did have to test screen my print of I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG for next month's movie night, I decided to change to that film. I hadn't seen this film in over 2...

Re: Watching poor quality videos using HDMI Input.

Most newer DVD players and all blu-ray players have that up convert technology. Makes nearly all DVDs look better. As far as the screen ratio, is there not a button on your tv to change it? It might be called "picture size".

Re: Great Movies No One's Seen: The Holly and The Ivy

I was looking for a Christmas themed 16mm film for our movie group. A seller in the UK had a print of this that I bought. It was kind of jittery in the projector when I got it. I was busy with other things so just put it aside. I'm going to try soaking the print to see if I can get it runnable. Mayb...
