Pretty sure someone will be playing that Wurlitzer, and not that the Wurlitzer will be accompanying the film. Oh, here it is on the theatre website...it's Clark Wilson.

Re: new DVD - restored 1913 Kinetophone shorts

The 1933 print was made by Paramount, we're pretty sure, in order to use a segment from the film for an installment of the Paramount Screen Souvenir series of 1-reelers. Someone (was it Geo.?) found a listing in the trades (see below). The 1933 print has a variable density track and those little tri...

The Universal restoration looks very good. I played for a show of it last year from a DCP we got from the studio.

This is an excellent CD. I got a copy several years ago when it was first done in a limited run, prod. by Ron Magliozzi of MoMA. All vintage silent era recordings of popular songs that were about movies and movie-going.

Yes, one of them turned up in a 9.5mm in Japan, MY PET, and will be shown in Pordenone this fall. My "Family Secret" DVD includes new scans from 35mm of MILES OF SMILES (restored by MoMA) and CIRCUS CLOWNS (from MoMA's reel 1 and LoC's nitrate reel 2). It's available online . Another reel of PEG O' ...

Love it or hate it, YouTube has replaced what flipping thru the dial did in the 50s-70s in terms of people discovering silent films.

Re: Undercrank DVDs now avail on more sites incl Canada & int'l

The films that say “clip” are all short fragments, which Steve and I have seen. “Tweedledee and Her Daughter” is actually reel 1 (only) of “A Scrambled Honeymoon” which is in vol 2. A reel of MOVING has turned up at an archive in France in the past year. We’re sure there are more out there, unidenti...

Re: Undercrank DVDs now avail on more sites incl Canada & int'l

Luke, I'm guessing that the 40 titles are Robinet films, as there are very few if any of Perez's American films extant. A disc of just the Ambrosio/Robinet films, all of which are about 6 mins, might not make for a good release. A good prospect would be something along the lines of vol 1, half Ambro...

Re: new DVD - restored 1913 Kinetophone shorts

At the moment it says "usually ships in 1-4 weeks", but we're working on fixing this. This is an MOD release that's not being mfg by Amazon's CreateSpace** and so there may be a hiccup in their system. We had a similar issue on TCM Shop that has now also been fixed. Thanks for your patience, and for...
