Remembering Anita Page

I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on Anita Page. Yesterday was the tenth anniversary of her passing and she's been on my mind. Her autographed still from WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS always hangs above my desk as my most prized possession.

Re: Buster Keaton's Italian Villa For Sale

Does anybody know who was living in the Italian Villa in about 1981-82? My old man and I once took a drive past the entrance driveway to it back then, meeting some man in a car who was just driving out and my father engaged him in conversation regarding the estate's history. Asked who was the curren...

Re: Robert Youngson's M-G-M’s The Big Parade of Comedy 1964

I don't know if Pretty Ladies still exists or is in fragments. But I'd love to see Detectives and China Bound make it to Warner archive. And I think Youngson also narrated The Love Goddesses (1965 JanusFilms), that would make a nice dvd release also. PRETTY LADIES exists, it's just missing the colo...

Tony Hancock 1925 - 1968

Fifty years ago today, one of the greatest comic minds who ever lived committed suicide in Australia. Tony Hancock had blazed his way through to turning British television on its head with his classic series, HANCOCK'S HALF HOUR, following the programme's triumph on radio. His unique screen persona,...

I seem to remember reading about Pickfair having a home theatre in it during the Fairbanks-Pickford marriage. Olive Thomas talked in an interview about having films she screened at her home and seemed pretty proud of it.

The Hades Ballet seems to only have survived in CHILDREN OF PLEASURE in black and white, but it's still in colour in ROAST BEEF AND MOVIES. Interestingly, the two films use alternate camera angles.
