Re: Vinegar Syndrome health concerns

NO PRODUCT CAN STOP OR REVERSE VINEGAR SYNDROME! Okay with the internet shouting out of the way. Vitafilm does claim to cure vinegar syndrome, it fall short of the claim. However, it does seem to be one of the best film cleaners. It is just amazing how much dirt Vitafilm removes off of films. It wil...

Re: A Hundred 1914 -1932 rare 16mm and 700 more very old new

I can say I have not bought any film in a few years. I really need a proper place to store them before I buy any more. So thus I have not kept on top of prices. However, those numbers are about what I was paying a few years ago per print of 28mm film stocks. So they do not seem to be out of line to ...

Re: Film can humidors

Those pads were for camphor oil. However it is not recommended as the raw oil can get on the film causing a nice mess. However, camphor in the form of tablets is a good idea for non polyester stocks.

Re: A Hundred 1914 -1932 rare 16mm and 700 more very old new

Seems like a nice find you have there. However, get ready for a lot of leg work. First you need to compile a complete list of titles. Then note condition of the film itself. This is where things get tricky as there are lots of things that can go wrong with film, even if it is just sitting there on s...

Re: What happened to all the theaters film projectors?

Give them a poke on that deal, they have been tripping over those projectors for a few years now. Someone with a strong back willing to haul it off and leave a few dollars behind might be more enticing than it was.

Re: What happened to all the theaters film projectors?

As part of the deal to get video projectors, many theaters were required to destroy their film projectors. Link with pictures. Yes all the big chains that got the "deal" and part of it was destroying their equipment. You really need to find the mom and pop operations who just had to push the projec...

I got 2 in my basement. A Century from 1955 out of the Bright Leaf Drive In. And a frankenstein Century/Simplex set up that offically belongs to my sister.

Seem to be having a problem with pictures, something about the max quota being met for the pages.

Re: Arm brake on rewinder...what for?

The brake goes on the full reel to control the tension of the wrap that you are making on the empty reel as you wind. Here is a video that has a very short clip of rewinds in action. Right at about 40 seconds in you can see a gentleman running the brake with his elbow. His hand is guiding and checki...

Re: Arm brake on rewinder...what for?

Daniel, The friction brake works great on small reels of film however it does not work well on larger reels of film. Here is what happens with the friction brake. You set the tension and start to unwind the film from one reel to the other. The reel with the friction set has a lot of film on it at th...

Re: Are all Castle films going to be an issue on YouTube?

Since you have received a take down notice already for the material in question that should be the only hint you need. Hate to be harsh here, but that really is a cease and desist order. Reposting even in another location is just asking for legal problems. In any legal case they would site the posti...

Re: Color movies faded away in no time

Actually it was Paul Penna who wrote about different elements in Black and White. The take is this: there are three colors now used in the color film processes magenta, cyan and yellow. As we know in color film stocks such as Eastman of the 1970s fades fast. Cyan layer is most unstable and goes firs...

Re: Color movies faded away in no time

You have to remember that color fade is a chemical process. This process is aggravated by both light and heat. Thou kept in a dark room, 60 degrees fahrenheit is more than enough temperature to keep the process of fade going. Cold storage below 32 degrees fahrenheit seems to help this problem out qu...

I think this is just a box lot of individual frames just for that small viewer in the one photo and nothing like a small spool that one would have with a toy projector. So I would say you have just the one frame in which to identify.

Any chance you can check the seller feedback. You may get lucky and find the other buyer might have left feedback for the sale. At least that would give you an user id to work with on this matter.
