It's actually has been broadcast several times already over the past few years, and is available from Kino on a compilation of baseball films. It's a 1919 Charles Ray film, with Colleen Moore before she became Colleen Moore. There's not a synthethic sin, nor a wild oat in sight, and boy could it use some.

It's a Colleen Moore film I haven't seen, and I don't have the Kino baseball set, so for me this is welcome news. Thanks Mitch!

Mitch, George,

:? Yes, they have shown it at least 3 other times. And this picture has John Gilbert too. Colleen looks cute as the dickens here, but this is the only Silent of hers outside of the FLAMING YOUTH clips that they ever shown. Even if Warner's owns the rights to the surviving First Nationals. THE BUSHER is also missing some key footage that can be found in the Grapevine release. Making the story a bit more coherent. They are only running this because of the World Series. Blast it, I want HER WILD OAT! Which I have waited six years to see.

There are some interesting Silent Animal Shorts on the schedule and I am not sure who is in them? Maybe that one with Mary Philbin riding on the back of that giant baby chicken? Who knows?

Aw man, that headline had me all excited...

Although, I didn't know Kino's version of THE BUSHER was missing key footage that is intact in the Grapevine release...what footage might this be, Giant? I've got that baseball set, and quite like the film. Colleen is so, SO cute.

Speedy,

:? Yeah, I fell for the headline trap too. You will need to ask Ed. I don't remember the details. Something to do with a bet that John Gilbert's character places, and that is why he is so nervous when Charles Ray enters the game.

 They are showing some animated Barn Yard shorts in October, that's where I thought of the remote possibility we could see that footage of Mary Philbin with the giant Baby Chickens and other animals.

Oh by the way, a new Colleen Lobby-card that Jorge found last week. For WE MODERNS (1925)

Blah, blah, blah. I actually saw a mute print about 10 years ago at the Gosfilmofond. It's not that rare.

Louie,

:? Huh? I beg your pardon, it was the only print in existence! And it couldn't have been 10 years ago. AMPAS did not restore the film until 2006. Long considered lost before that. and it was discovered in the Czech archive at Prague not Gosfilmofond from what I understand.

I'm afraid he's yankin' yer chain...

I'm seriously cravin' more Moore...gotta see HER WILD OAT, WHY BE GOOD? and SYNTHETIC SIN...also hoping for restored versions of IRENE, TWINKLETOES, ELLA CINDERS, ORCHIDS AND ERMINE and LILAC TIME...I'm just wild about that girl.

Well, there IS a Colleen Moore movie on TCM in October, but it's not silent: THE POWER AND THE GLORY (1933) is scheduled for October 1, 2012.

A solitary print of the long-thought-lost HER WILD OAT was discovered by Hugh Neely in late 2001 at the Czech archive in Prague, not Gosfilmofond. Unless this print was shipped from the Czech archive to Gosfilmofond by 2002, which I somehow highly doubt, there's no way Louie could have seen it there ten years ago, and in any case, it most certainly was not only extremely rare, but unique, until prints of the restored version were made of course.

You might as well say that twenty prints of LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT have been discovered and ain't all that rare. You have no proof. I can back up my claim above with sources other than my own insistence; can you?

And HER WILD OAT was lost until found in Prague in 2001.

Let's have your sources; otherwise, you're good company for Sid Terror.

That's not proof. Sid Terror said he held a print of LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT in his hand.

You have no verifiable proof of your claim; until you produce some, you have no leg to stand on, and no more credibility than Sid.

Nothing to do with what I think, Louie, but what I know through evidence provided through verifiable sources, of which you have none.

It's still OK. I've seen dozens of films which hardly anyone else has seen and I can't 100% prove I've seen those those either as they are housed in archives and private collections. I can't help that you are a non-believer, but hey, that's your own jag.

That's what F. Gwynplaine McIntire and Sid Terror both said.

But, surely, if you've seen the print at Gosfilmofond, it would be listed as part of their holdings, correct?

Maybe, maybe not. Not all film archives have their entire list of holdings and new entries are being found all the time. But knock yourself out.

 Bottom line is, at least one Starring Colleen Moore Silent debuting on TCM is long, long overdue. I only bring up HER WILD OAT and LILAC TIME because they would appear to be the two most likely candidates to turn up the soonest. However. I'd be happy with anything made between BROKEN CHAINS (1922) to ORCHIDS AND ERMINE (1927).
