WINSOR McCAY before "Sinking of Lusitania"

Unread post by KevinScottCollier » Fri Sep 01, 2017 2:32 pm

Before there was Winsor McCay's 1917 silent animated film "The Sinking of the Lusitania," there was another sinking he drew 37 years earlier, "The Sinking of the Alpena." If you are a McCay this will appeal to you.

The new book "Winsor McCay's The Sinking of The Alpena" presents McCay's first commercial drawing made at the age of 13 in his Spring Lake, Michigan classroom in 1880 and the story behind it. Also pictured for the first time is the McCay childhood home and his school and growing up in Spring Lake, 1867-1885.
