Well...

The intention is honorable. And the presentation serviceable.

But, YIKES.

It's always a bit insufferable, when a presumed Know-It-All thinks they've rediscovered the wheel. And then, in the computer age, finds it too easy to tell us alllllllllllllll about it.

At interminable length.

In an unpleasing voice.

For someone who has set himself up early in the narration as a film historian I was somewhat taken aback that he had no idea whatsoever as to how silent pictures were presented.

Still, there are many "in the know" who have no idea. I remember asking a curator of a film programme one time why there was no accompaniment presented for a silent picture. I was told, in no uncertain terms, "Because it was silent, duh, there's no sound track!"
