Has anyone bought or heard anything from this? ... opera+1925" target="_blank

It looks pretty cheesy, but it's kind of cool it's on vinyl. With all these scores by Carl Davis, Jon Mirsalis, and Gabriel Thibadibawallawallabingbang, why has no one used the score used at the 1925 New York premiere (assuming it exists)?

It's the "assuming it exists" part that's the problem. As I recall, the tiny bit of audio that survives is presented on the recent BFI release. Better details are on another Phantom thread.

The New York premiere score was compiled by Eugene Conte, as the score Universal commissioned Belwin, Inc. to publish wasn't ready. Conte's score doesn't exist, but the Gustav Hinrichs/Max Winkler Belwin score DOES. It contains a number of pieces still under copyright, including main themes like "Prelude to a Mystery Drama," which is used for the Phantom, but overall, the score is incredibly uneven, and overall pretty lousy. The Cue Sheet, compiled by Winkler alone, works around some of the published score, and is far better, but still fairly weak.
