CCFF: The Gaucho (1927) – 2nd Saturday Silents, 7/14 at 11am – FREE!

Circle Cinema Film Festival & 2nd Saturday Silents presents “THE GAUCHO” (1927) at 11am during our 90th Birthday Celebration – FREE ADMISSION! As guests arrive they will be treated to classic tunes by Phil Judkins and then Bill Rowland on Circle Cinema’s original 1928 pipe organ. Bonus: There will also be a short video about the organ loft, behind the silver screen where the magic really happens!

This program is sponsored in part by the Sooner State Chapter of the American Organ Society, Tulsa Kids, Arts Alliance Tulsa, Tulsa office of Film, Music, Arts, and Culture, and Circle Cinema.

In this action film, Douglas Fairbanks plays the unofficial leader of Miracle City. Fairbanks laughs aloud at the faithful flock to the shrine of the Madonna: he knows that, once they’ve left, he can claim the pitiful alms they’ve left behind. Eventually, however, Fairbanks experiences a religious conversion.

(Fun Note: This was the 2nd feature to show at the brand new Circle Cinema on 7-17-1928.)
