“Catnip for film buffs!”—The Hollywood Reporter
In 1962, Alfred Hitchcock and a 30-year-old François Truffaut (400 Blows, Jules and Jim) locked themselves away in a drab Hollywood office for a weeklong conversation about filmmaking and cinema. The transcription was printed as a landmark book that has inspired filmmakers and film lovers for decades. Based on the original recordings of this meeting, Hitchcock/Truffaut illustrates the greatest cinema lesson of all time and plummets us into the world of the creator of Psycho (1960), The Birds (1963), and Vertigo (1958). Hitchcock’s incredibly modern art is elucidated and explained by many of today’s leading filmmakers and Hitchcock disciples, including Wes Anderson, Olivier Assayas, Peter Bogdanovich, Arnaud Desplechin, David Fincher, Richard Linklater, Martin Scorsese, and many more. Wish I could see this. Great book and the one and only book everyone needs on their shelf regarding Hitchcock.
