Allright, you movie music mavens....here's a question.
I happened to watch this Clark Gable-Susan Hayward so-so adventure pic tonight and being the kind of Hollywood trivia nerd that I am, I noticed that, although it was filmed in Cinemascope, the 20th Century Fox fanfare that opened the picture did NOT include the additional bars of music written by Alfred Newman in 1953 (for How to marry a Millionaire) that is known as 'the Cinemascope extension' by movie buffs.
My questions is - why?
The longer Fox fanfare was always used for wide screnn films....but not this one!
It will bug me until some kind soul here spills he dope!
