With this news and the passing of Jean Porter recently, I'm sad to see the last few surviving co-stars of Abbott and Costello are leaving us. Ann played Lou's sweetheart in THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES. When they are reunited at the Gates of Heaven at the end, she can't let him in because of the sign on the gate reading "Closed for Washington's Birthday..."

Started as a child actress in the movies, playing Becky Thatcher in 1938's Tom Sawyer and Isobel as a child in 1939's Beau Geste and ended playing Gary Lockwood's mother in 2001. My sentimental favorite is her role in the 1940 Little Men, a nice adaptation of the book by Louisa May Alcott.

I just watched her last night in THE SINGING COWBOY (1936).

Ann's cave hysteria in THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER was truly unnerving.

Since the death of Lina Romay (Xavier Cugat's vocalist) seven years ago, Ann had been the last survivor of 1943's STAGE DOOR CANTEEN.
