She was one of those actors whose talent often eclipsed that of the stars, yet for some unexplainable reason she seemed destined to be a supporting player throughout her career. A true triple threat, she made her mark in the theater, in movies and television. As Miss Reubner on "The Tony Randall Show", she came close to stealing the show from Mr. Randall in nearly every episode. Her singing and dancing gifts were displayed in such movies as CALAMITY JANE and WHERE'S CHARLIE in which she reprised her role in the Broadway show (will that movie ever make it to DVD?). She was always a very welcome presence - rest in peace, Ms. McLerie.

Calamity Jane is one of those movies I will sit down and watch at the drop of a hat. She was a perfect foil for Doris Day. RIP.

I don't remember her from the other works, but when Calamity Jane was listed, I knew who it was.
She had to be good to compete with Doris!

Her New York Times obituary, leading off with her starring in the original Broadway version of Where's Charley?:

McLerie is marvelous in Where's Charley?, and it's one of the few things I like Bolger in.
